A.C.T. Ministry

Assisting Connecting & Touching lives
Our Outreach Ministry was birthed and exists out of the spirit of giving. It is our desire to serve the community in which we live, work and worship. Through several avenues we strive to give back a portion of what God has blessed us with. Jesus' ultimate task was to save us. But he also came to set us free, to heal and to love.
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:40

ACT on HEALTH
ACT uses Body & Soul, a faith based program supported by the National Institute of Health, as a guideline to focus on health and wellness. We feel that healthy living is important to prevent the most commonly diagnosed diseases. It is especialy important for the minority population to be aware of the health risks that disproportionately affect them. This ministry is the avenue with which we address the various health risks that minorities face due to lack of nutrition, poor eating habits, and lack of exercise.

PREVENTION
A great way to prevent cancer and other life threatening diseases is by eating more fruits and veggies everyday. Adults should aim for at least 5 servings a day. Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that may help protect you from chronic diseases. Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases, including stroke and perhaps other cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers.

ACT on HIV/AIDS
Recently our attention has been drawn to an epidemic that is affecting the African-American community at alarming rates. African Americans account for more HIV/AIDS cases, people estimated to be living with AIDS, and HIV related deaths than any other race or ethnic group (1,2). This is very disheartening. This disease is 100% PREVENTABLE. We have a responsibility to all people to make sure that everyone is educated concerning the risks and prevention. We will be hosting discussion forums on the subject throughout the year as well as several events focused specifically on HIV/AIDS.
